What is Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and which on conditions is it prepared?

The document providing the detailed information about the hazard properties of hazardous substances and mixtures and the safety measures to be taken in workplaces in accordance with the hazard properties for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment from the adverse effects of hazardous substances and mixtures.

The supplier of a substance or mixture shall provide the recipient of the substance or mixture a safety data sheet compiled in accordance with Annex I for the cases below:

a) Where a substance or mixture meets the criteria for classification as hazardous in accordance with the Regulation on Classification Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures, published on the Official Gazette dated 11.12.2013 and No. 28848 (bis).

b) Where a substance or mixture is persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic or very persistent and very bioaccumulative in accordance with the criteria set out in Annex II.
 
(2) The supplier shall provide the recipient at his request with a safety data sheet compiled in accordance with Annex I, where a mixture does not meet the criteria for classification as hazardous in accordance with Regulation on Classification Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures, but contains: 

a) In an individual concentration of ≥ 1 % by weight for non-gaseous mixtures and ≥ 0,2 % by volume for gaseous mixtures at least one substance posing human health or environmental hazards; or,

b) In an individual concentration of ≥ 0,1 % by weight for non-gaseous mixtures at least one substance that is persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic or very persistent and very bioaccumulative in accordance with the criteria set out in Annex II or,

c) A substance for which there are occupational exposure limit value.
