The preparation of a label that complies with the legislation on detergent products is of great importance for both consumer safety and the marketability of the product. Labels provide critical information about the product and help consumers make informed decisions and use the product. Manufacturers and/or those who place the product on the market are obliged to provide accurate and complete information about the product in order to ensure compliance with legal regulations and legislation. This information includes critical issues such as how to use the product safely, storage instructions and safety warnings. In addition, labels contain important information for the health of users, providing consumers with important information on the correct use of the product and potential hazards.
Here are some key points on why correct labelling of detergent products is so important:
► Legal Compliance: Labels contain the necessary information to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. By presenting this information accurately and completely, manufacturers can avoid potential problems and ensure the permanence of their products in the market.
► Consumer Safety: An accurate labelling ensures that consumers are informed about how to use the product, storage instructions and safety warnings. This information helps prevent accidents and health problems that may occur as a result of misuse.
► Consumer Trust and Brand Image: An accurate prepared labels increase the reliability of the brand. When consumers trust the accuracy and clarity of the information on the labels, their trust in the brand increases. This reinforces loyalty to the brand and strengthens customer loyalty over time.
In the EU area, market inspections of detergent products are carried out by independent inspectors and high fines are imposed on products with non-compliant labelling. The European Commission is working on an update to the existing detergent Regulation for detergents and cleaning products. This update includes requirements for digital labelling and product passporting. In addition, safety requirements and labelling requirements have been introduced for detergents containing microorganisms.
In Turkey, the Ministry of Trade and the Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change carry out market inspections of unsafe and/or non-compliant consumer products and impose significant financial penalties.
