BENEFITS OF THE KKDİK (TURK REACH) PROCESS FOR TURKEY
Content addition date : 19-06-2025
The foundations of the KKDİK process were laid in 2007 with the European Union's REACH Regulation. REACH is considered one of the world’s most comprehensive chemical regulations, aimed at ensuring the safe use of chemicals. EU countries sought to enhance the traceability of chemicals and pursue production and consumption without harming health or the environment.
Turkey took a significant step in aligning with the EU by introducing the KKDİK Regulation (Turkish REACH Regulation) in 2017.
We can list the benefits of the KKDIK process as follows.
Health and Safety: KKDIK regulation aims to minimize the adverse effects of chemical substances on human health and the environment. The detailed evaluation and registration of substances ensure early detection and prevention of potential hazards.
International Trade: Thanks to the KKDIK regulation, Turkey can conduct trade compatible with the EU. Chemicals accepted in EU countries will also be recognized in Turkey through the KKDIK regulation process. This enhances the competitiveness of Turkish companies globally.
Environmental Protection: Monitoring and preventing harmful effects of chemicals help preserve natural habitats. The increase in the use of environmentally friendly chemicals contributes to the sustainability of ecosystems.
Support for Innovative Technologies: The KKDIK Regulation process facilitates the widespread adoption of safe and efficient production methods in the chemical sector. This encourages the development of new technologies and the production of environmentally friendly alternatives.
Turkey's KKDİK Regulation process enhances its commitment to global chemical management by prioritizing environmental and public health. This process not only promotes the safe use of chemicals but also strengthens Turkey's international trade. Chemical safety is not only a legal requirement but also a critical step toward a sustainable future.
