Should KKDIK Registration be done for Cosmetic Products?

Companies operating in the cosmetics industry must comply with numerous regulations, not only in terms of product safety and consumer health, but also in terms of legal obligations. One of the most comprehensive regulations in the field of chemical management in Turkey, the KKDIK Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals), also imposes important obligations on raw materials used in cosmetic products.

The substances contained in the formulas of cosmetic products are subject to regulation under certain conditions. If the substances that make up a cosmetic product are produced or imported in quantities of 1 ton or more per year in Turkey, it is mandatory to register these substances with KKDIK.

Cosmetics manufacturers and importers are required to determine whether all chemical substances used in their products are subject to registration. In this context, companies must first examine their product formulas in detail and then review the registration criteria under KKDIK for each ingredient. If the relevant chemical substance has already been registered by another supplier, the company may be exempt from the registration obligation.
