A biocidal product is any chemical or biological substance containing active ingredients designed to destroy, repel, render harmless, or control harmful organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or pests. These products are regulated to ensure they are safe for human health and the environment.

  • Type 5: Drinking water disinfectants

Group 2: Preservatives

 Group 3: Pest Control Products

  • Type 18: Insecticides (e.g., mosquito or cockroach killers)
  • Type 19: Repellents and attractants (e.g., insect repellents, rodent lures)

Why Does It Matter?
Biocidal products play a vital role in protecting public health. However, if misused:

  • They can harm human health
  • They may cause environmental damage
  • They can contribute to microbial resistance

That’s why it’s essential to use licensed and properly labelled products that meet regulatory standards.
