What are vPvB Substances?
Annex 13 of Regulation No. 30105 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) provides the CRITERIA FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF vPvB SUBSTANCES.
These substances exhibit the highest level of hazardousness in terms of the “persistence and bioaccumulation” criteria in nature and on living organisms, and they possess both of these criteria simultaneously. For this reason, they are substances whose use in the chemical industry is generally avoided whenever possible.
In cases where these substances are present at 0.1% or higher in a mixture, the relevant sections titled “2.3 Other Hazards” and “12.5 Results of PBT and vPvB Assessment” must be clearly stated in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of the products.
